Olivia Hyunsin Kim (Siegen/Germany 1987) works as a choreographer and performer. After studying at Seoul National University, she studied Dance and Theatre at the University of Hawai‘i and Falmouth University (Dartington College of Arts). In 2016 she finished her joint Masters in Choreography and Performance at the Institute of Applied Theatre Studies Gießen and HfMDK Fraknfurt with distinction.
Because of her dually “Eastern” and “Western” background, she is interested in questions of identity. In her work, she plays with the visible and the invisible and intertwines reality with fiction and vice versa.
Together with Magda Drozd, she is collaborating as The Kill Joys questioning nowaday’s intersectional feminist practices. They have been playing at Zürcher Theater Spektakel, AuaWirLeben Bern Festival Center, Impulstanz Festival Center among others. She has been nominated for the Ponto Performance Price in 2016 and 2017.
